The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) responded to the call for compassion through its involvement in the Ziarah Kasih Programme by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and UPSI to Jertih, held as a show of solidarity with the families of the victims of the accident involving students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The programme was carried out following the tour bus accident involving 42 UPSI students who were returning to the Tanjung Malim campus from Jertih, Terengganu on 9 June 2025.
The visit was attended by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education; YBhg. Datuk Dr. Anesee Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT); YBhg. Dato’ Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim, Chairman of PTPTN; YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Md Amin Md Taff, Vice-Chancellor of UPSI; YBrs. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Arham Abdullah, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK); YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Fadzli Adam, Vice-Chancellor of UniSZA; YBrs. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri, Vice-Chancellor of UMT; and PTPTN Senior Management.
Through the Ziarah Kasih Programme, PTPTN presented the PTPTN Education Loan Scheme Takaful Protection and Death Benefit Letters to the families of two students who were PTPTN loan recipients. In addition, PTPTN also handed over the Takaful Protection and Death Benefit under the Simpan SSPN Plus Scheme to the family of student Nor Ayuni binti Maslan, and the Death Benefit under the Simpan SSPN Prime Scheme to the family of student Nurly Sahirah binti Azman. The visit also included stops at the homes of three students who sustained injuries—Tuan Adham Tuan Adnan, Nik Khairulnisa Ruzmi, and Nurul Farhana Ab Aziz. Each of them received a RM500 CSR contribution from PTPTN in the form of a Simpan SSPN Prime account.
It is hoped that this contribution will bring some relief and help ease the burden for the victims and their families. Each donation reflects PTPTN’s compassion and its hope for a better future for the affected families. This initiative also demonstrates PTPTN’s ongoing commitment to engaging with the community and reaching out to those in need with empathy.
