Question 1: I have started working and wish to start repaying my loan by salary deduction. How do I go about doing this? Answer: Please provide details about your employer, i.e. name, address and telephone number to the Enforcement and Collection Division by e-mail (upkb@ptptn.gov.my) or official letter. You will receive a copy of the salary deduction instructions from the IRB to your employer. The IRB will take 1-3 months to implement repayment by salary deduction. Meanwhile, you can make your own repayment using other methods to avoid instalment arrears.
Question 2: Why does it take time to update the PTPTN statement if payments are made by salary deduction through the IRB? Answer: The payment records at PTPTN are updated according to the date the monies are remitted by the IRB to PTPTN. The IRB will remit the monies once every month, i.e. in the middle of the month. As such, the monies remitted in the current month will only be updated in middle of the following month.
Question 3: Why is it that the record of my salary deduction is not the same as the PTPTN statement? Answer: The updating of the salary deduction record is based on information from the IRB. If there is a difference, borrowers are advised to obtain information about deductions made by the employer and submit it to PTPTN for further checking with the IRB. Question 4: I was late in procuring employment and have instalment arrears. I wish to commence salary deduction. Can the salary deduction be higher than the monthly instalment specified? Answer: Borrowers can make higher salary deductions than the specified monthly instalment amount. The instalment arrears cannot be deferred and need to be paid by the borrower as the salary deduction is for the current instalment only.
